In July 2019, the State Council, China’s cabinet, issued new guidelines to implement the country’s Healthy China initiative and promote people’s health (http://www.gov.cn/xinwen/2019-07/15/content_5409694.htm). With a focus on disease prevention and health promotion, the guideline proposed 15 special campaigns to “intervene in health influencing factors, protect full-life-cycle health and prevent and control major diseases.” Among the 15 campaigns, two campaigns address ‘Balanced Diet’ (sugar intake and BMI control) and ‘Diabetes prevention’ – both of which Reducose can help with.

Healthy blood glucose matters!
All of us experience blood glucose levels that go up and down as we consume foods. Of all the foods we eat, it’s especially carbohydrates -sugar and starch- that make our blood glucose fluctuate. However, not all carbohydrates are created equal. Some carbohydrates break down into blood sugar faster than others. The faster a carbohydrate is broken down, the faster and higher it will increase the blood glucose. In contrast, a slow carbohydrate will make the blood glucose levels fluctuate more gently. The ‘speed’ of a food is measured by its ‘Glycaemic index’ (GI) number. The lower this GI number, the slower and lower that food will impact the blood glucose levels. It’s important to know that slower and lower blood glucose level fluctuations are healthier.
So, when choosing your foods, it is important to consider the impact these foods have on your blood glucose levels. As an example, a 50-gram bowl of rice will increase your blood glucose levels faster and higher than two cans of soft drink!
